DUE MAY 27
Please sign a witness slip as a PROPONENT for HB3498.
This bill easily passed with bipartisan support in the House with 110 YEAS. The Insurance Committee Chairman in the Senate, however, is holding up the bill in favor of a bill he authored. The bill he authored is nowhere near as robust as HB3498.
HB3498 ensures that we will have access to telemental healthcare outside the pandemic. Before the pandemic, only a handful of insurance plans allowed you to see your regular therapist by telehealth. HB3498 increases access by forcing insurance to cover telehealth the same as an in-person session. Research has shown that telemental health is just as effective as in-person. HB3498 doesn't force people to use telehealth but it gives them the option to if they want/need to!
